ブランドの作詞作曲になる「懐かしのヴァージニア」。
現在米国ヴァージニア州の州歌（State Song）となっている。
左の楽譜（1950年12月配布）では編曲者が Roy Freebury と記され、冒頭に「州立サンフランシスコ大学合唱団のために」と為書きがある。
混声八部合唱、というよりむしろ女声四部合唱＋男声四部合唱といったほうがピッタリ。分厚い和声で“綿花（cotton）や玉蜀黍（corn）、馬鈴薯（tatoes）の稔るヴァージニア、そこへ私を連れて行って”と黒人労働者の望郷の念が歌われる。
ソプラノのAsからバスのDesまでという広い音域を駆使したシンフォニックな編曲。
1951年5月関西合唱連盟の合唱祭に始めて歌われ、1955年秋に甲賀高校での演奏会でオンステされたのを最後に歌われなくなる。1962年愛唱歌集シャンテが初めて編纂されたとき掲載されたが、その後歌われずCCDのレパートリイから姿を消す。
この曲といい「イェス君」といい、多声部の合唱曲が目立つと感じるのは編者の僻目だろうか。こういう曲が森本先生の好み、というよりは先生のCCDに対するかくあれかしの姿＝理想像の一つだったのではなかろうか。
